Terms of Service

Last updated: October 8, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Careerscient mobile application and related services (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Careerscient is a service that allows you to capture daily work experiences, distill them into structured career evidence using AI, and generate professional artifacts including resumes, interview stories, LinkedIn posts, and brag books.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained parental or guardian consent.

4. Account Registration

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

5. Your Data and Content

5.1 Ownership

You own your career data and the content you create using the Service. This includes all text entries, voice recordings, stories, and other career information you provide. We do not claim ownership of your content.

5.2 License to Us

By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to process, store, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service. This license terminates when you delete your account.

5.3 AI-Generated Content

Content generated by the Service's AI features (such as resume bullets, STAR stories, and LinkedIn posts) is generated based on your input data. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy of all AI-generated content before using it. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies and should not be relied upon without review.

5.4 Content You Publish, and Removal

Some features let you publish content to a public web address or to a private sharing link. Content you publish that way can be read by people who are not our users and who never agreed to these Terms — including people you write about.

We reserve the right to remove or withhold specific published content, or to take a published page offline, without removing your account or your underlying data. Removal applies only to what is published outward; your own record in the app is unaffected. We will tell you what was withheld and why, and you may ask us to reconsider by replying to that notice.

We act on narrow, verifiable grounds only. A third party may object to published content on the basis that:

  • the content is theirs and is presented as yours;
  • the page holds itself out as being them; or
  • the content publishes their private contact or identifying details.

We do not decide whether something published about a person is true. We are not the arbiter of a disagreement about what happened at work, and we will not remove content on that basis. Objections of that kind are between the people involved. Conduct that is unlawful, harassing, or threatening is handled under Section 6 and Section 12 rather than by content removal alone.

Objections to published content should be sent to [email protected]. We may act on a credible objection before reaching a final view on it, and we may restore content if the objection is not made out.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service
  • Use the Service to generate false, misleading, or fraudulent career information
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
  • Submit entries by automated means; entries come in only through the app's own voice and text inputs
  • Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, features, and branding (excluding your content), is owned by Careerscient and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

8. Subscription and Payment

Certain features of the Service require a paid subscription, which you can buy in the iPhone app (through the Apple App Store), in the Android app (through Google Play) or on our website (through our web checkout, run by RevenueCat with payments processed by Stripe). A subscription bought in any of these places applies to your Careerscient account on every platform.

  • Subscription fees are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) and renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel
  • You may cancel at any time where you subscribed: in your Apple or Google Play account settings for an app store purchase, or from the link in any billing email from our web checkout for a web purchase. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then
  • Refunds for app store purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. To request a refund for a web purchase, email [email protected]
  • We reserve the right to modify pricing with reasonable advance notice

9. Disclaimers

  • The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • AI-generated content is not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying all generated content.
  • We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
  • We are not a career counselor, recruiter, or employment agency. The Service is a tool to help you organize and present your career experience — it does not constitute professional career advice.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Careerscient shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Careerscient and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

  • You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature in the app.
  • We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we determine, in our sole discretion, is harmful to the Service or other users.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of California.

14. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms in the app and updating the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
